Website meta description | Welcome to our travel blog. We’re Roel and Eugenie from the Netherlands. We just love to travel and want to show that it’s not impossible to have a job and see a lot of our beautiful world. In the past 20 years we’ve visited over 70 countries. Without losing our jobs or each other… Why TakeUsAnywhere When we really started traveling to faraway destinations about 20 years ago, contact with home was by phone and later e-mail. When blogging sites popped up we started using these to share our travel adventures to keep family and friends informed. Many other people found our stories there too. Now we’re taking it to the next level: our own travel blog. With TakeUsAnywhere we want to keep our memories alive, because these are the most important souvenirs we take home from our travels. But we also want to share our adventures, thoughts about travel and lessons learned along the way wit others. We hope this site will inspire you to travel like we do. You don’t have to be rich and have a lot of free time (though it helps tremendously) to explore everything the world has to offer. We’re living proof of that. Who are we We (Eugenie and Roel) met each other in 1988 while studying in Groningen, a small student city in the north of the Netherlands where we still work and live. We got married in 2004 in Sri Lanka. We’d just left the country a week before the devastating tsunami wreaked havoc in South East Asia the day after Christmas. Eugenie works as a health care worker with deaf people with side handicaps (both mental and physical) and behavioral problems. Until she met Roel her bucket list was very short: the pyramids of Gizeh in Egypt. Though their first long trip together was cut short because she got homesick, Roel’s travel bug had for ever infected her. Roel earns his money as a freelance writer and has two passions: sports and traveling. Leafing through atlases in elementary school he was already dreaming of broadening his horizons at the age of 10. Less than travel happy parents, lack of money, debilitating shyness and developing an addiction to training for and competing in triathlons in his twenties limited his travels for a long time. How do we travel Because money was short we started our traveling ‘career’ as hardcore backpackers. We loved this style of traveling so much that we kept backpacking for a very long time even after we started earning more money. The past few years we have started to allow ourselves a little more luxury in transportation and accommodation, but the backpacks are still with us (and probably forever will be). What’s next We’re sorry we didn’t travel more when we were younger, but we’ve been making up for lost (travel) time since visiting the pyramids of Gizeh in 1996. We developed a special love for Asia but have traveled to many countries on other continents as well, savoring every moment. We hope to keep traveling for another 20 years. And longer if possible. Our bucket list is long enough. And it seems to be growing longer every year. It can take us anywhere…. | The length of the meta description is 3044 characters. The basic overview not enough? Let's dive deeper.
What is a server? It's basically a physical storage device (one that, sometimes, makes up several virtual servers for the cheaper shared hosting) that holds all the files and databases associated with a specific website or websites. Obviously, it's a touch more complicated than that (servers also have processors), but the essence is quite simple - your browser contacts the server, which then sends all the neccessary information and files to your computer. Each physical server has a unique IP address assigned to it, too, for easy recognition.
